How to convert YouTube to MP3 with CornerCat

   Open your little helper

   Install CornerCat, then click its cat icon in the macOS menu bar. You can also press ⌘⌥C (Command–Option–C) to show or hide the panel. The desktop mascot is optional.

   Paste the YouTube link

   Copy the link to the video you want to keep and paste it into CornerCat’s download tab. CornerCat checks the link and available media.

   Choose MP3

   Select MP3 for just the audio. MP3 is the audio option; choose MP4 instead when you want the video.

   Save it to your folder

   Choose Save MP3. The finished file goes to your download folder. Change that folder in Settings → General when you want a different destination.

An audio file, without a browser converter

The website introduces CornerCat; the Mac app does the downloading. You do not upload a video to this website or need an extra web converter. Open the menu bar panel whenever you have another link to save.

What happens to the video?

MP3 contains the audio, so it does not include the video picture. Saving an MP3 does not change the source video. To keep video instead, use the free MP4 option. Audio availability and quality depend on what the source provides.

Which Macs can use it?

This download supports Apple Silicon Macs, including M1 and newer, running macOS 12 or later. It is a Mac application, not a Windows app, an iPhone app, or a browser-only converter.

When a link does not work

A removed, private, restricted, or login-required video may not be available to CornerCat. MP3 also needs a usable audio track. Check that the link opens normally and points to the intended video; a subscription cannot make missing source audio appear.
