Download the Mac installer
Use Download for Mac on this website. The current release is for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer), running macOS 12 or later.
- 2
Drag CornerCat into Applications
Open the downloaded DMG, then drag the CornerCat app onto the Applications folder in the installer. After copying, open CornerCat from Applications.
- 3
Approve the app if macOS asks
This release is locally signed but is not Apple-notarized. If macOS blocks opening it, find Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security, or System Preferences → Security & Privacy on older Macs, then confirm opening CornerCat.

Find the cat up top
Click the cat icon in the macOS menu bar to open the download panel. ⌘⌥C also shows or hides it. You do not need to display the desktop mascot.
A quick look at the download flow.
Illustrated preview: paste a YouTube link, pick MP3 or MP4, and save a file. Real download times depend on the source and your connection.
Choose where files are saved
Open Settings → General to change or open your download folder. Pro conversions and compressed copies have their own remembered folder choices. Downloads, conversions, and compression run in the Mac app, not through an upload form on this website.
Free versus Pro
YouTube, X / Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram MP3/MP4 downloads are free. Liquid Glass and the optional default navy blue mascot are free. Pro unlocks file conversion, compression with a queue of up to five files, Pomodoro timers, scheduled reminders, a habit tracker, extra mascot colors, and Classic or Dark Classic appearance.

What kind of app is CornerCat?
CornerCat is a packaged macOS application built with Electron. The included media helpers run natively on Apple Silicon. It uses open-source tools including yt-dlp and FFmpeg; the credits page lists the tools, licenses, and source information. It is not a browser-only download service.
