How to save a social video with CornerCat

Copy a link from the post
Use the video or reel’s shared link from YouTube, X / Twitter, TikTok, or Instagram. A profile link is not the same thing as a video link.

Open the cat in your menu bar
Click the CornerCat icon or press ⌘⌥C. Paste the link into the download tab and let CornerCat check the source.

Choose what to keep
Use MP3 for an available audio track, or MP4 for the video and available sound. Save the result to your selected Mac folder.

MP3 requires an available audio track. Posts and formats depend on the source.
Instagram reels and available audio
Instagram sometimes provides a video without usable audio, or restricts an audio track separately from the video. MP3 needs an available audio track; selecting Pro does not unlock audio the source does not supply. A reel with missing audio may still be available as a silent MP4.
X and TikTok downloads
Use a link to the individual post or video. Platform changes and the post’s visibility can affect downloading. CornerCat checks the link rather than promising that every post, private video, or login-required item is accessible.
Everything above is free
YouTube, X, TikTok, and Instagram MP3/MP4 downloads are free. Liquid Glass and the optional default navy blue desktop cat are free too. Pro adds local file conversion, batch compression, Pomodoro, reminders, habits, additional colors, and Classic appearances.
Built for your Mac
The current DMG supports Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer), with macOS 12 or later. CornerCat lives in the menu bar and remembers your download folder. The website is for learning about and downloading the app; social video downloads happen inside CornerCat.

Which social platforms are supported? +
CornerCat supports YouTube, X / Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram videos and reels. Availability depends on the post and platform.
Are Instagram and TikTok downloads free? +
Yes. MP3 and MP4 downloads from all four supported platforms are free, without a CornerCat Pro subscription.
Can CornerCat download private or login-required videos? +
Those posts may not be accessible. CornerCat does not guarantee downloading private, removed, restricted, or login-required media.
Why is there no available audio on some videos? +
A platform may provide only video, omit an audio track, or restrict its audio. MP3 requires a usable source audio track.
